If you leave the room with the Barrens/Glen solstice puzzle the journal stops glowing. In the Steam Remake version if you select the Journal before re-entering after you re-enter the selected Journal will become Glowing journal. Selecting the Glowing journal is otherwise impossible outside of a few cutscenes where you don't have control.
