In the Remake if you didn't go to the "birdhouse" with Calamus and Alula Calamus will be standing outside the house waiting for you to come close. There's a complicated glitch that lets you trigger Calamus meeting you even before rescuing Alula resulting in Niko teleported into their empty house.[1] You can only leave via the Fast travel in the Courtyard but if you trigger cutscenes there the story will advance and you'll lose the ability to get the Feather and will get softlocked.
